Welcome to the wonderful world of Starchy and Husk, the loveable potato and corncob crime-fighting duo. Created by Deborah Reilly, these books are sure to delight the young and young at heart with their humor, rhyme and charming illustrations.
Inspired by the works of Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle and David Shannon the artist set out to create a series of books that could be enjoyed by both children and adults using a quirky sense of humor, rhyme, color and of course, wordplay.
All images and text are done by hand, an important element for kids to see in this world of perfect computer generated images.
In addition to creating Starchy and Husk, Deborah teaches Art and has a vested interest in Arts Education for all. “I believe everyone has a creative bone in their body and that the world would be a better place if everyone did something with that. It doesn’t have to be a major piece of Art just sincere.”
Originally from the mountains of Montana; the artist currently lives, works and plays in Santa Monica, California.
A portion of the proceeds from the sales of these books goes to childrens organizations.
